Porcsha, MS | Family Life and Education
College Attended: Langston University (undergrad), University of Central Oklahoma (grad school)

What inspires you?
My family, those around me, and the possibilities that life has to offer. Seeing things happen for other excites me, because it motivates me and give me that push, I need, to know that I too can accomplish anything I set out to do.

Tell me about your job. What attracted you to this career?
I’m a Program Manager for an initiative at a non-profit. I’ve worked in the non-profit field for my entire career and what attracted me to this career is the amount of help you can provide as well as being able to be an asset to others succeeding.

What obstacles did you overcome to get to this point in your career?
The obstacles I overcame to get to this point in my career is not giving up. Working within the community, providing resources, and being a guide overall can be challenging and a bit tiresome at times. The goal of it all is to focus on the mission and knowing your why.

How does a person progress in your field?
A person progress in the field of non-profit by continuous education, grit, guidance, passion, and drive.

Do you have any advice you would like to give future and current college students?
My advice is to figure out what makes you happy, what do you like to do, and how do you see yourself completing your goals. It’s okay to not have all the answers, no one does, but never stop believing in you. See yourself succeeding in what you set out to accomplish in life and know that, if I can, you can too.
